World’s dads where super happy last week, after the video Volkswagen released, presenting the prototype stroller the company developed.
The company’s engineers borrowed an adaptive cruise sensor from their Golf model, and made the stroller able to stop when facing an obstacle and also follow the parent from a safe distance.
Well, you can now put your credit card back in your wallet, because all this was a publicity stunt. The stroller was radio controlled, and all this was a joke. But, why this is just a joke?
Drones can follow the user who wears a transmitter, and they avoid obstacles too. Why a stroller can’t?
And more importantly, why can’t a stroller just brake when needed?
You just need some brake clamps and a system to activate them.
The math are pretty simple. Brake clamp load formula is this on the left.
Where, C is the brake clamp load in Newtons, T the brake Torgue (N*m), μ F is the friction coefficient of lining material on disc material (which is dimensionless) and n is the Number of friction faces (also dimensionless).
